when one door closes, another opens.

It's a very true statement for me today. I found out last week that my position as the Event's Coordinator at Archiver's was being eliminated. Not just at my location, at all the Archiver's stores. The problems with the economy have touched every company big and small. Archiver's has not been immune to this failing economy. Please don't think Archiver's is closing, because they are not. If they were ignorant and ignored the reality of the situation it would be a possibility but the owners are being realistic and making changes that are necessary in this economic climate.
Am I saddened? Of course. Am I taking this personally? No. I loved my job and the people I worked with. Archiver's was a great place to work and I will miss it. I learned so much about scrapbooking and grew every single day I was there. The experience was invaluable and I will always remember the fun I had learning and sharing with others. I will continue to shop there and support Jen, Caroline and the great staff that makes the store what it is. What would we do without Archiver's? I would have to drive to Michigan or Columbus just to buy paper! I have already told Jen that I expect a personal invite when the new products arrive. I will really miss opening those new boxes with Tara when they come in.

The upside of all of this? No more weekend or evening shifts. (My husband really misses me.)

Leaving the store allows me to teach or sell my designs anywhere. I am bursting with ideas for classes, projects and products and now can pursue those and so many other limitless opportunities.
Saving the best for last here...I already have secured freelance position working for a scrapbook manufacturer. I am working three days a week as a graphic designer once again designing what else?!? Scrapbooking Products! I feel so incredibly thankful and lucky to fall into this when so many others are struggling to find employment. It is truly a dream job for me.

On to Chapter 2. It just seems to get better as the book goes on. :)

things are changing

Our family spent the past weekend at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky. The boys had a blast swimming and playing on the playgrounds. If you decided to go, take my word for it. One night is all you need. The place is like Chuck E Cheese on Crack. My head was spinning all the way home.

There's a lot changing in my life. I thought it was a bad thing but today I realized that things truly happen for a reason. Good reasons. :) I'll spill it on Saturday.

staying warm

or at least trying to. I'm so done with Winter. Max the child who rarely gets sick was sick again last week. The bad weather needs to end.
Emmitt Lamb the Cute turns five tomorrow. We had a family party on Sunday at my mom's. Very fun. Lots of food and lots of Wii. He is having his buddy from school over to play in the morning and for dinner we are taking all the boys to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate. Still can't believe Mr. Blue Eyes will be five. I hate that it's going by so quickly. Especially knowing he is my last little one.
I've been working a lot lately, picking up some extra money. Might as well work now while it's cold out. The store has finally been getting in some new products, so it's fun to make samples and play.

Once again I loved my Work In Progress Kit for March. Lots of Cosmo Cricket. Yum. I have even more pages to share later this week. It's good to hibernate.

Christmas Still?

I am loving February! (for the record - I still hate the cold and snow.) Two reasons - Scrapbooking Christmas Pictures and American Idol. When it's this cold out my family tends to hibernate on the weekends which means lots of scrapping time for me. We take tons of pictures from the holiday season and it always seems so daunting when I sit down to scrapbook those memories. The pictures are not always the best due to low lighting and jumpy children, but still they are oh so important memories and I really want to capture them. It's such a sense of relief when I finally get going and tackle the job. Here are just a few I've finished the last few weeks.

I can't wait to see Idol tomorrow. Will Nick be Norman??? So far Danny is my fav. Alexis is very good. The other dude is a dud no matter how nice a guy. Stephan Fowler blew it major - and he's got an awesome voice.

Gotta go! More pics to scrap.
