Mixed Media Scrapbooking

Creating Keepsakes has a new special issue hitting newsstands this week! You can see a Sneak Peek into the issue right here!
When I first glanced at the cover, I was a bit intimidated....I have never thought of myself as a Mixed Media crafter. Not like the gorgeous and artistic pages my friend Shelly makes. I got to read through my copy of the issue on my way home from an out of town baseball tournament. It got me so excited to try many of the supplies I have bought and never really used. It also inspired me to use many of the supplies I already have in new and different ways. After reading the entire issue, I realized that I was already a mixed media scrapbooker, that each of us can take it to the level that we wish to achieve.

My favorite topic covered in the issue is Ready, Set, Color! (how to incorporate ink pads, spray ink, watercolors, 3-D opaque ink pens, etc.). A few years ago I made a "Book of Me" mini album. It is still one of my favorite things I have ever made. I used alot of pens, stamps and inks to create fun pages about my life at the time. I am very inspired to create a new updated version that reflects my life just 5 years later!

Here's a little information on what to find in the issue:
As scrapbookers, we know that creating scrapbooks will benefit future generations as they turn the pages and reminisce about days gone by. But we also know that creating scrapbook layouts is fun—the kind of creative fun you got with your first taste of finger painting as a little kid. Part of scrapbooking is the joy of creating something artistic and useful.
In the spirit of creative fun, this special issue from Creating Keepsakes is full of useful how-tos and inspiring ideas to maximize your fun. Play with youthful enthusiasm as you learn to use:
  • paint
  • metal
  • ink
  • thread
  • art mediums
  • clay
  • markers
  • fabric
  • beads
  • bling
  • ...and more!
Play with youthful enthusiasm as you mix mediums to add eye-catching effects to your scrapbooks. Enjoy the act of creating and playing as well as the result:showcasing your memories in unique ways.
So, are you ready to break out of the box and try some Mixed Media techniques for yourself? I am giving away a copy of this issue to one lucky reader! Just leave me a comment below by Sunday July 23 at midnight. I will announce the winner on Monday July 24.
*Please make sure to leave your email address. If you win, I need to be able to contact you!
I'm off to CHA in Chicago bright and early Monday morning! If I can catch my breath this week, I may just post some photos from the show for once!

I need this issue to encourage me to be more adventurous. After all as one instructor once told me, it's just paper... but I find it hard to break out of the hold.
