Fonts

I originally posted this on the Work In Progress blog...I've been adding to my font library this past week and have added a few new favorites at the bottom!
Font Finder

Laina here today! I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite fonts and free font websites.

Get Creative with Type
If you would like to learn more about typography and how to use type more effectively I highly recommend "Get Creative with Type" by Brian Tippetts. He explains the anatomy of a typeface and gives many great examples of how to make your pages more successful by choosing the correct typeface. I would also suggest looking at your local library for books on typography. My county library has hundreds available through online request. Another great resource is "96 Amazing Typography Blogs".

Here are a few of my favorite sites for downloading free fonts:
Dafont (has lots of cool dingbats too!)

I tend to stay away from overly themed fonts as they can look outdated very quickly. Here are five of my favorite typefaces:

Century Gothic Complete Family Pack
Century Gothic - crisp and clean, great for journaling blocks. This is usually installed on your PC with windows.

Fling

Fling - very trendy. You see it on lots of magazines. Download for free from the link.

Rockwell

Rockwell - chunky and fun for pages. Won't look dated.

Sweetheart Script

Sweetheart Script - my favorite script font.

Font: Frankfurter Medium
Frankfurter Medium - puffy letters are great for titles, especially when you want to connect or weld the letters together.

I also wanted to include a thread from 2Peas. Have you ever wanted to find the font that matches your American Crafts Thickers? Check this link to see the font matches. You can find virtually every font for free on the web following the links I gave you above. Good luck!

Little Days is very cute.

something old, made new.

It was my turn to post at the WorkInProgress blog this week...thought I would share here too!

I started this little mini way back when I worked at Archiver's.I wanted to document the millions of stuffed animals my son Cooper has collected and subsequently will not part with. The mini itself is a very quick and simple little concept. I started with 4x6 photos plus a front and back cover cut the same size from KI Memories Sheers. I backed each photo with a 4x6 Journaling Card from Pebbles Inc. I then punched and bound the book with a ZutterBinditAll. For a book title I used American Crafts Thickers and Doodlebug rubons. Overall, this part of the project took less than an hour.

I could not decide how to embellish the inside of the book so I set it aside for several months. Last week I finally got to work and finished it.

I cut a custom title on my Cricut for each page and simplyhandwrote the journaling on the preprinted cards. Here are some of my favorite pages, there were over 20 animals in all!

Without the cricut, this project would have turned into a huge expense, tyring to make all those titles out of expensive letter stickers. Using the machine allows me to create unique embellishments at a fraction of the cost if purchased.

Be sure to check out the latest Cricut Promotion, The Great Gypsy Escape! Purchase one of 4 new Cricut catridges for a chance to win a new Gyspy (handheld design studio for Cricut), $2,000 travel vouchers and even a $30,000 trip to one of 5 fabulous locations!

Sketch #21

When I entered the race to be on the 52 Sketches 52 Weeks Design Team, I had to submit my take on any of Julie's sketches. Here's the sketch I selected:

And here's what I came up with! The paper is Endless Summer by WeRMemoryKeepers sold exclusively at Archiver's.

Have a fun and scrappy day!

Down to Business

Monday morning and I am off work! I love having an extra day when the house is already clean and the chores are all caught up. My hubby is still in Denver recovering from the the Browns loss to the Broncos. The boys were in Niagara Falls for the weekend with my parents so Max and I had the house to ourselves. What do you think I did with all that freetime. Scrapping!

Besides my regular commitments to WIP, I decided to try a few challenges and contests this month. Here is a page I entered for the Scrapbooks, Etc. challenge blog. I cut the title and spinner/bike wheel using SCAL and my Cricut.

(Page image removed for publication!)

Now I'm off to scrap again until Kindergarten lets out!

throwing my hat into the ring

TwoPeas is having a Cricut contest for the next three weeks. Since I am obsessed with using my machine these days, I thought I would give it a try. Here is my first entry:

Be sure to check out the latest Cricut Promotion, The Great Gypsy Escape! Purchase one of 4 new Cricut catridges for a chance to win a new Gyspy (handheld design studio for Cricut), $2,000 travel vouchers and even a $30,000 trip to one of 5 fabulous locations!

did you ever

say something that you wished you could take back?

<span class=">

I certainly hope this is how Kayne feels tonight. Probably not though. Not that I like Taylor that much. But it was really rude. And I love Madonna but was it really necessary to have her give the King of Pop tribute speech? Boring. I loved Brooke Shield's memorial speech to him WAY better.

No scrapbooking for me this weekend. Lots of football, karate picnic and dinner with family. I'm back to lots of work at Pulsar working on some new exciting projects. Also, upgraded my Adobe Lightroom to 2.0 so I had to play with photos for a few hours too.

I got my new October Work In Progress Kit today...very fun. Hopefully will have pictures to post from Trish tonight. Lots to do this week but with it brings the best weekend of the month. Steve is flying to Denver to see the Browns vs. Broncos with Curtis. The little guys are going to Niagara Falls with Grandpa and Grandma. Leaving Max and I the house to ourselves. He will be busying playing his new Halo ODST and I will spend the weekend getting caught up on my summer scrapbook pages. FUN!
